Faces Of India – I – The Ferryman Of Maheshwar

Indian Bloggers

We were taking a boat ride on river Narmada when we first saw him. The sun was about to set and we were returning from the temple on the middle of the river. He along with his boat was waiting for someone to pull them to one of the ghats. We came to know the engine of his boat stopped working suddenly.

The first thing I noticed about him was the hair and decided to take a shot. Once asked he agreed readily. But as I focused on his face, I found it to be interesting even without those hairs. The sunlight made things better. I liked it. Let me know in comments what you think.

Incredible photo. I am always worried they’ll turn away or want to not be in the photo. You have captured a really gorgeous shot there and a very interesting looking person too.

The hair, the shadows, everything is perfect! This is a great shot. Definitely once in a lifetime opportunity. You captured his essence for sure.

I love photographing people too on my travels, more so portrait shots. 😀 You surely found an interesting man, not only for his hair but for the stories he has yet to tell 😉

I agree, the hair is the highlight of his face and very noticeable! But, when you get pass the hair, he looks kind, wise, vibrant, such a laid back type of guy!

Certainly one notices the hair, but what I saw first were his eyes. There is a kindness and gentleness about him. He’s someone I could see myself sitting with for a while because I bet he has great stories to tell.
